The full explanation

What is the difference between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E? Both use IEEE 802.11ax. Wi-Fi 6E extends those capabilities into the 6 GHz band. Generation names are not band names: Wi-Fi 4 supports 2.4 and 5 GHz, while Wi-Fi 5 uses 5 GHz.

The additional spectrum can provide more room for channel planning. A device needs 6 GHz support to use it, and local spectrum rules apply. More spectrum does not guarantee uninterrupted service: walls, distance, interference and access-point placement still matter.

We would consider Wi-Fi 6E when compatible devices and the site’s capacity needs justify it. Compare it with current Wi-Fi 7 options and the useful equipment already installed. The right choice depends on the facility, not a universal “gold standard” label.
